Note on illustrations. This introduction to classification of Salticidae includes only species defined by diagnostic illustrations in the taxonomic literature, arranged by similarities of embolus and spermophor. Images are displayed as thumbnails to save space and allow for rapid scanning of theoretically closely-related species. Thumbnails are small versions of illustrations in other parts of the monograph, whera are displayed together with particulars of their sources and permissions.

Gen. Brancus Simon, 1902 (15 species)

Type species Brancus muticus.
DIAGNOSIS. Bulbus with small, triangular flap, usually round or near round, tibial apophysis short. Epigyne with anterior depression, sometimes partially divided by arches associated with copulatory openings. Copulatory ducts simple, spermathecae oval, or bent. Diagnostic drawings below are integral part of definition.
REMARKS. African genus resembling Asian Telamonia by palp appearance, especially presence of a flap on bulbus, but differs by absence of retrolateral expansion of cymbium's edge and characteristic bunch of long, stiff setae in that place, there are striking differences in internal structure of epigyne.
