Classification of the Salticidae genera of the World

CHRYSILLINES

by Jerzy Prószyński
Version December 31st, 2015 Note on illustrations. This introduction to classification of Salticidae includes only species with diagnostic illustrations in the taxonomic literature, arranged by similarities of embolus and spermophor. Images are displayed as thumbnails to save space and allow for rapid scanning of theoretically closely related species. Thumbnails are small versions of illustrations in other parts of the monograph, whera are displayed together with particulars of their sources and permissions.

Gen. Plexippus Koch C.L., 1846 (20 species)

Type species Plexippus paykulli .
NOTE. Another "waste bucket" genus of 165 nominal species, of which 125 are just synonyms (Plexippus paykulli alone was published under 21 synonymic and combination names), for 8 species both sexes are known, but for 11 only single sex was described, 19 species are unrecognizable. The best know representative is Plexippus paykulli, cosmopolite in warmer areas around the globe, found also in hothouses in cooler areas. Both palps and epigyne are considerably modified, but confront to the general plan of this group of genera. Diagnostic drawings below are integral part of definitions.
