Introduction

CHRYSILLINES are characterized in males by antero-lateral angle of spermophor loop emerging from underneath thin fleshy layer, running diagonally over bulbus and narrowing anteriorly, ending by short sclerotized embolus. Typical structure is developed in Hasarius adansoni or in Phintella, in some genera structure of embolus and bulbus is comparable or possibly derived. Females with spermathecae globular, relatively small, with ducts running anteriorly. In some genera there is a pair of pockets, developed posteriorly on epigyne. Diversity in this character in particular genera is illustrated below. Body shape not specialized, medium sized or small spiders, living mainly on vegetation. Large group of genera, distributed world wide, containing several subgroups, previously recognized as independent subfamilies. Present composition temporary, some transfers to other groups may be advisable. Diagnostic drawings below are integral part of definitions.

DIAGNOSIS. With palp and epigyne typical for this group of species, Bristowia can be best recognized by habitus, especially by enormously long leg I, with dense fringe of dark setae ventrally on tibia I. Note elongation of coxa I and trochanter I, analogous to DIOLENINES.

Gen. Chrysilla Thorell, 1887
Type species Chrysilla lauta 10 species
Compare with other genera in vol. 1 at Chrysilla
NOTE. With only four recognizable species, having in addition similar palps and epigyne, Chrysilla may be best recognized by bright, shinning coloration. In difference, forms with white spots on darker background are classified in the genus Phintella, independently from similarities in palps and epigyne. Often photographed by macrophotographers, the correlation of coloration with genital characters is not certain, hence identification of living specimens without revision of type specimens is tentative.

COMMENT. Palp typical for CHRYSILLINES - if the couple correctly matched then the genus must be placed in CHRYSILLINES. Palp resembles some Phintella, with short sclerotized embolus atop of long and broad, fleshy embolar basis's, distinctlly expanding "lamellar tegular process" resembles such "Phintela" species as "P". suavis, suavisoides, sancha, lepidus, minor, aequipes, aequipeiformis; vittata - there is difference in the color pattern -- Phintella seems to be vivid colored, Heliophanoides are dull grey. Compare also males of H. longlingensis, moi, tengchongensis.

Newly proposed subfamily Freyinae Edwards, 2015
contains some genera classified into this group of genera, recognizable by:
slightly more elongate, distinctive arrangement and unusually thick - states of selected characters
