Introduction

DIOLENINES - group of genera of Salticidae characterized by elongated trochanter I and, sometimes, coxa I. Due to palpal organ similarities to different groups of genera (CHRYSILLINAE: Bristowia, EUOPHRYINAE - Udvardya, HYLLINES - Lystrocteissa), these may be parallel adaptations, but requires further research.

Gen. Sobasina Simon, 1898 (15 species)

Type species Sobasina amoenula .
DIAGNOSIS. Recognizable by unique structure of spermathecae whose posterior part is developed into long and thin process, often making several loops. Externally epigyne is too small for observation under dissect microscope, so without diagnostic value. Palps rather uniform. Coxa and trochanter I elongated, but not very striking, body shape variable, in some morphs resembling ants, in other not . Diagnostic drawings below are integral part of definition.
REMARKS. ZHANG & MADDISON 2012. Zootaxa 3491: 42 proposed to classify Sobasina in the subfamily Euophryinae on the basis of "unpublished molecular data" of unknown diagnostic value. That disagree with appearance of spermophor, which runs along contour of the bulbus, their summary of morphology is based on single species and does not cover diversity among ALL species of the genus.

Diversity in 6 Sobasina species, due apparently to island speciation. Note evolution of unique structure of spermathecae,
contrasting with little differentiation of palps. Body shape variable - in some species ant-like, in other remarkably not.
