Jerzy Prószyński Type genus Lapsias Introduction DEFINITION. Poorly known and
ill defined group of South Western Hemisphere genera, considered by Maddison
& Needham 2006 an informal group of a subfamily rank, on the basis of molecular
data, but they give no practicable
diagnostic characters. Simon (1901: 429) classified Lapsias into group
Astieae. Diagnostic drawings in the literature show palpal bulbus with simple
sclerotized apophysis or apophyses, spermophor following
contour of bulbus, embolus encircling bulbus entirely or partially. Epigyne
with complicated spermathecae and ducts. Drawings below are integral part of the definition.
REMARKS: diagnostic drawings of palps in COCALODINES, another poorly known New Guinean group of genera, show presence of bulbus apophysis. The group is too little known to interpret significance of that structure. Gen. Galianora Maddison, 2006 (2 species), Type species Galianora sacha. Drawings below are integral part of the definition.
Gen. Lapsamita Ruiz, 2013 (1 species) Type species Lapsamita maddisoni Ruiz, 2013. Drawings below are integral part of the definition. Gen. Lapsias Simon, 1900 (7 species) , Type species Lapsias estebanensis. Drawings below are integral part of the definition.
Gen. Soesiladeepakius Makhan, 2007 (5 species) Type species Soesiladeepakius aschnae. Drawings below are integral part of the definition.
