Introduction

SPARTAEINAE are recognizable by large, flattish bulbus, circular or oval, covered entirely by tegulum, with translucent spermophor following the contour. Embolus prominent, arising anteriorly on side of bulbus, encircling its anterior part. In females spermatheca form of a large chamber, globular or oval, copulatory ducts relatively simple. Genus Holcolaetis departs from that general type, so do a few genera more - see drawings below.
REMARKS. SPARTAEINAE are very well studied, owing to series of papers by Wanless 1978f, 1979b, 1980a, 1981b, 1981c, 1984a, 1984b, 1985, 1987. I included also Thrandina. A concise summary of all research, including recent studies by molecular methods, is given by Maddison et al. 1987. In this situation the present paper is limited to scan diversity of palps and epigyne of all species.
TRANSFERS OF GENERA. Sonoita has an additional sclerite on bulbus, independent from basis of embolus, with a small but distinct sclerotized hook. That resembles COCALODINES as well as Sparbambus and I transfer these genera there. Genus Paracyrba is synonymised with Cyrba, Paracyrba wanlessi being sister species to Cyrba ocellata, which it resembles closely by color pattern and genital structures.

Type species Thrandina parocula.

REMARKS. Genus originally placed in Lapsiinae by Maddison 2006. Transferred to Spartaeinae because shape of spermathcae and general shape of male pals, in spite of presence of prominent tegular apophysis. Grouping of eyes and size of PME resembles Brettus and some other genera. This is the first representaive of Spartaeinae ever found in Western Hemisphere. (J. Prószyński, 2014-X-31).
