Note on illustrations. This introduction to classification
of Salticidae includes only species defined by diagnostic illustrations in
the taxonomic literature, arranged by similarities of embolus and spermophor.
Images are displayed as thumbnails to save space and allow for rapid scanning
of theoretically closely-related species. Thumbnails are small versions
of illustrations in other parts of the monograph, whera are displayed
together with particulars of their sources and permissions.

Type species Epeus tener.
DIAGNOSIS. General body appearance characteristic, males with tuft of high, upright hairs on eyefield, arranged semicircularly. Palp with elongate tip of cymbium, and posterior retrolateral angle in a form of bent hook, articulating with tibial apophysis. Bulbus oval, embolus hair thin, parallel to side of bulbus, with anterior part as long as bulbus. Copulatory openings anterior, their rims delimit small, anterior depression, a pair of pocket is located just behind depression, but is marked on drawings of only one species. Copulatory ducts make transverse spiral of long coils, shape of spermathecae is not shown on existing drawings. Diagnostic drawings below are integral part of definition.
