Note on illustrations. This introduction to classification of Salticidae includes only species defined by diagnostic illustrations in the taxonomic literature, arranged by similarities of embolus and spermophor. Images are displayed as thumbnails to save space and allow for rapid scanning of theoretically closely-related species. Thumbnails are small versions of illustrations in other parts of the monograph, whera are displayed together with particulars of their sources and permissions.

Gen. Plexippoides Prószyński, 1976 [1984] (25 species)

Type species Plexippoides starmuehlneri (male only) .
DIAGNOSIS. Palp with broad cymbium, leaving flat area between bulbus and rim of cymbium. Posterior, retrolateral angle of cymbium drawn into pointed and bent short process, in some species sclerotized, touching similarly shaped tibial apophysis. That is comparable with Epeus and a few other genera. Shape of bulbus departing from usual oval by expanded part at basis of embolus, there is characteristic, "ear" shaped flap on bulbus. Embolus hair thin, half encircling bulbus and continued in a groove along tip of cymbium. Epigyne with a pair of small, posterior pockets, copulatory openings anterior, ducts sclerotized, lead into several coils before entering spermathecae, or into compact, sclerotized bodies with internal convoluted spaces.
