Note on illustrations. This introduction to classification
of Salticidae includes only species defined by diagnostic illustrations in
the taxonomic literature, arranged by similarities of embolus and spermophor.
Images are displayed as thumbnails to save space and allow for rapid scanning
of theoretically closely-related species. Thumbnails are small versions
of illustrations in other parts of the monograph, whera are displayed
together with particulars of their sources and permissions.

ETYMOLOGY. Named in honor of prominent arachnologist - Dr. Y.M. Marusik [MARUS-ik-YLL-US],
co-author of the big monograph
of the genus Yllenus, the editor of many of my publications and personal friend. Grammar gender - masculine.
DESCRIPTION. General characters shared with remaining genera of YLLENINES (see above), but palps and epigyne evolving from relatively "normal" to very specialized. Tip of cymbium
striking by being drawn into long, anterior "tail", guiding embolus, bending over palpal
organ, with narrow and bald depression along its whole length. Embolus which
is hair thin and very long. Bulbus relatively small. Conductor very unusual, crescent
shaped, broad and robust, in majority of species larger than bulbus. Palpal femur broad, crescent shaped, tibia short
with large tibial apophysis, articulating with corresponding plate-like outgrowth
of the cymbium's postero-vental angle. Spermathecae relatively small and simple,
copulatory ducts making complicated coils, evolving to very complicates
double spiral. Length of ducts seem to parallel length of embolus. Drawings below constitute integral part of the genus definition.
